The Connecticut State Police did a fly over of Danielson, Connecticut today but did not find any sign of Gerhard or his plane.
John Blackadar and the Quincy Dive Team have concluded their search of the Carver, MA area bodies of water, having also not found anything.
WCVB Boston's program Chronicle ran a segment this past week on Gerhard's disappearance. Although there were few inaccuracies in the report, we're all very grateful for the exposure and hope that some new lead may develop from it.
The Associated Press interviewed us here at the shop and took photographs for a story they will do on Gerhard, his disappearance, and the effect it has had on everyone close to him. Look for the story the week of October 24th,1999.
John Blakadar will head a new search for Gerhard with the Quincy (MA) Police Underwater Recovery Unit. A volunteer team of about 30-40 divers will re-examine Gerhard's most likely flight pattern and then look for signs of an oil slick on several bodies of water in Plymouth County, MA. The search will hopefully get under way in late October to coincide with the harvesting of cranberries, which lowers the water level of surrounding bodies of water. There will also be less of an obstruction caused by foliage this late in the year.
